Falling, flailing
Slipping under
Surface fading
Floating wonder
The sun dissolves
Into a slumber
How soon the dark
Becomes my cover
Can’t see past
The angry sea
That seeks to claim
What’s left of me
A fragile faith
Left shattering
On shards of doubt
And inadequacies
I reach, I fail
Not quick enough
To catch the tides
To pull me up
The current rushes
Past my grasp
Push me under
Way too fast
Heavy weighted
Here I wallow
Deafening silence
Beating hollow
Taunting echos
Hard to swallow
The lies my heart
Is doomed to follow
